To anyone who’s out there thinking: how one of the biggest and richest countries in the world keep the major part of its population in poverty?

I was born in Brazil and I still live in it. It’s an amazing country, with awesome people on it, but it has a dark side…

As a student I always look up at those ranks that lists the countries with most money in the world. Surprisingly Brazil appears in the top ten richest countries in the world, and I was like… hey, wait a minute, where is all this money??

If you already know Brazil you realized that it is a poor country. Only a few people has enough money to live like an average citizen of Europe or United States. But how that is possible been Brazil one of the rich ones??

Here comes a little Brazilian history

The Brazilian society was built with slavery. Our society abolished slavery only 130 years ago, so our system and people is used to see people suffering and don’t give a single f***, poor people never had real valour, and black people is discriminate in every aspect of the society since the slavery times.

The shocking point is that in Brazilian society, the slavery and it’s consequences in the present its not even a topic to discuss. Poor people, black people, gay people, indigenous and other minorities are massacred everyday and the average Brazilian probably will defend the one who did de massacre. But coming back to the money….

Our elite is composed with people who really don’t care if the country is falling apart, they have no empathy with the poor. Really, they don’t care at all, and that brings us back to slavery.

The key to understand Brazil and its desigual society its that:

The people and the valours that enslaved Africans in the past still running our society today, and they want to keep it that way!

The status quo of slavery remains.

The social structure was build based on slavery.

This may sound a little hard, but is unfortunately true. Brazilians are kept in in a trap by the elite who owns everthing. A little percentage earn all the big money and manage to keep through the media the population happy with enough money to eat and buy an cheap & unsafe car.

To close this article in the saddest way possible you need to know that in october of 2018 Brazilian elections will be happening. The guy in the lead to win the elections is the one who defend all the injustices I just mentioned. He hates everthing that black, poor, gay and indigenous people stand for. It comes to a stage that even he got stabbed recently.

I love my country, but it make me so sad seeing my people been humiliated every single day by this diabolical system.

I hope that one day, every single Brazilian will see the real picture and take back the country to it’s real owners and the rightful beneficiarys: the people.

Hey there, inglish is my second language and I know that I’m not very good at it. But I’m learning, so cut me some slack, BTW is very hard to write on a smartphone.
